But both of those things also add friction to your sales process. And that means you’ll wind up losing more clients along the way.

But then you’re leaving money on the table.

Either you focus on closing more deals. And you accept you’re going to leave some money on the table.
Or you focus on maximizing your revenue from each deal. And you accept that you’re going to turn away some clients.
But at least now you can make a conscious decision about what’s best for your freelance business.
Also, for what it’s worth, I think you should focus on closing more deals earlier in your freelance journey to get experience and grow your network.
Then as you become more established, you can afford to start turning away clients and focus on earning as much as possible for each project you take on instead.
